Clay Smith
Head Coach
Clay is a former Pitcher for the Texas Rangers 1977-1979. Today, along with his one on one instructional sessions, he heads up two successful select 18U and 16U teams. Clay grew up in Pleasant Grove, Texas, where he graduated from WW Samuel High School. After lettering three years in Varsity Baseball, he was awarded a baseball scholarship to Louisiana Tech University. Clay played for the Dalrich Rebels where he pitched in the 1976 South Plains Regional’s against New Mexico and set a record for 14 strike outs in seven innings while defeating New Mexico 2-0. His team then went on to play in the 1976 Stan Musial World Series in Battle Creek Michigan. He posted an era of 1.15 throughout the state regional and world series tournaments. Clay was also a member of the 1977 Texas State Championship team, the Newman Oilers, where he pitched against Waco in the state title game defeating them 5-1. He has been coaching and instructing baseball in Dallas since 1979. Coaching five years as the Head Coach for the Rockwall High School fall JV teams, the RBA in Rowlett, Innerplay Sports in Wylie and over the past three years out of the Texas Sports Organization in Rockwall. Clay enjoys coaching kids of all ages and helping players develop their skills with proven results.
